Working directly in the communities and homes of the people we serve gives way to safety issues and risky situations that are not common in office or clinic settings. In this workshop, CSI’s Dr. Frank Sacco discusses mindsets and assumptions about violence that can support or diminish prevention efforts, types of actual versus perceived risk, and when to exit potentially or obviously dangerous situations.
He provides specific actions that clinicians can take to minimize risk and protect themselves in community settings, including strategies for prevention, evaluating threats, exiting unsafe settings, and thwarting imminent attacks.
