Community Services Institute is proud to be a partner of The Head Start Program that was launched in the summer of 1965 as part of President Lyndon Johnson’s “War On Poverty”. The first Head Start program was an 8 week summer course to help prepare pre-school children for entrance into school.
Over the last 5 decades Head Start has been providing comprehensive services to eligible children and families and leading the way in early childhood education.
Community Services Institute is proud to be a partner with Head Start programs in Agawam, Amherst, Greenfield, Northampton, Turners Falls and Westfield. Children participate weekly with in-school play therapy with a CSI clinician coupled with a weekly home visit from a therapeutic mentor.
This collaboration has reduced significant barriers families face in accessing mental health services. Families now have appoint person coordinating services and access to school-based services.
